It runs fine with the cpu speed set at ondemand, but I set it on Performance to be sure of no glitches. Temping fate I loaded a dvd as this was one of my original problems with XP. I installed the CPU speed frequency applet to check cpu speed during running programs to see if the 1.7GHz cpu was maxing out all the time, but it is not - great. Rebooting the laptop up came LDME and I was very happy.Įverything works fine and runs quite quickly. Rechecking with Gparted I noticed I now had a boot flag on the linux partition. (Knowing that I would probably and loose Windows, but hey, no big loss. I deleted the boot flag from the windows partition and re installed LDME again. I made a usb stick iso and loaded it onto my laptop successfully, rebooted and hit the next problem as I had not boot screen due Plop boot manager I previously loaded to get USB boot function.Īfter a bit of thought i ran LDME from usb stick and went into Gparted to examine the partitions. I searched the web for a non pae linux distro and found that 32bit LMDE was one. Windows 7 no longer recognizes dvd drive. Thanks for the suggestions, but when I tried to load Peppermint I got the - kernel does not support pae message again. The Wireless connection is not stable for the Atheros AR5006EXS wireless device with Windows 7 in my Fujitsu Lifebook A 6110.
